How to Convert Arabic Numbers to Japanese Numerals?
The Japanese numeral system follows the "four-digit grouping method." Before converting, you need to split the Arabic number, as detailed below:
- Split the Number: Divide the Arabic number into groups of four digits, starting from the right.
- Convert Each Group: For each group, convert the digits into the corresponding Japanese numerals and units (thousands, hundreds, tens).
- Combine the Results: Merge the converted groups and add the appropriate large-number units (兆, 億, 万).
- Handle Special Cases:
- Zero: In Japanese, zero is represented as れい (rei) or ゼロ (zero). Usually, zero is omitted, appearing only when necessary.
- Repeated Digits: For repeated digits, such as 11 or 22, use じゅう (juu) or にじゅう (nijuu), instead of repeating the number itself.
Example: Convert the number 1234567890
- Split the Number: From right to left, group the digits: 12 | 3456 | 7890.
- Convert Each Group:
- 12 → 十二

How to Convert Japanese Numerals to Arabic Numbers?
Similar to converting Chinese numerals to Arabic numbers, converting Japanese numerals to Arabic numbers involves the following steps:
- Group the Number: Split the Japanese numerals by large number units (兆, 億, 万).
- Calculate the Arabic Number for Each Group: Based on the identified digits and units, compute the value for each group by applying the appropriate weight.
- Combine the Results: Multiply each group by its corresponding large number unit (such as 100,000,000 for 億 and 10,000 for 万) and add them together.
